Our IDE-SATA04 SATA Hard Drive Adapter is a Native SATA Drive to IDE 40-pin Adapter for most enclosures needing a SATA to IDE Converter. The SATA Hard Drive Adapter converts a SATA Drive to IDE, a perfect solution for converting SATA or SATA II devices to IDE ATA 40-Pin UDMA-133/100 interfaces.
JMicron JM20330 chip-set and supports 3.5″ IDE hard drives and 5.25″ optical drives. It’s compliant with IDE specification and supports up to UDMA/133 drives!
Chip Overview:
JM20330 is a single chip solution for serial and parallel ATA translation. It includes the Serial ATA PHY, Link, Transport, and Parallel ATA (application layer) controller. The Serial ATA physical, link, and transport layers are compliant to Serial ATA 1.0 JM20330 supports a 1.5GHz data rate, and scalable to 3.0 GHz data rate by directly doubling the internal clock source.
The application layer supports both the ATA register command set and PACKET command set, which could drive both Hard Disk Drive and ATAPI Optical Storage such as CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, etc. The Serial ATA and the Parallel ATA application layer support both host and device operation and can be configured through a single pin.

The SATA to IDE adapter worked seamlessly in our application to transfer data from our SATA master to an EIDE slave. The BIOS was set to auto detect for the SATA and EIDE drives. The SATA drive should be connected to the end connector of the cable and the jumper on the back of the adapter has to be OFF. The EIDE drive is connected to the middle connector of the EIDE cable with its jumper set for slave. This is with a straight cable with no twist in the control lines for a cable select configuration.
The adapter works with the standard 40 pin EIDE connector AND also works with 80 pin cable, as the extra 40 pins are added ground connections for shielding when the drive EIDE drive is used in Ultra DMA mode 2 and higher.

It didn’t fit into my computer! The input and output connector pins were offset.
I had to cut the mounting brackets in my computer to allow for the offset.
I also bought a mounting bracket for the Sandisk that I installed. I had to modify that similar but also allow for the ATA-100 connectors sitting “higher” than they should have. Maybe, I just bought all the wrong equipment. Anyway, it’s in and working well.

Worked great on a Rocstore enclosure and first time. Installed in 2 minutes. Great value. Thanks for the videos on the web site – very clear on application

The adapter works as advertised. I’m using it for a SATA HDD installed in an old Dell Dimension PC as a slave drive to my HDD IDE primary. I’m going to order a couple of more for some of my friends who also have older PC’s.
